NHS Charities Together has ramped up its senior team with the appointment of three directors, to lead fundraising, impact and communications.
The umbrella organisation for NHS charities has seen a significant increase in its work this year amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
So far this has raised more than £130m, including more than £30m raised through Captain Tom Moore’s record breaking sponsored walk earlier this year.
Joining the senior team at NHS Charities Together as director of fundraising is Louise McCathie, who joins from Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust where she held the same role since 2009.
“I am excited, but also privileged, to have this incredible opportunity to lead fundraising for NHS Charities Together in its next chapter,” said McCathie.
“Having first-hand experience of, and witnessing the challenges of, this year as part of an NHS charity, whilst working with the amazing professionalism and warmth shown by our NHS colleagues to support patients and families in their care, growing the impact of this organisation on a national scale is truly a dream job for me.”
Richard Scarth joins as director of membership and impact from Royal Fee Charity, where he was deputy chief executive and has also been director of operations. He said he was joining NHS Charities Together at a “pivotal moment” for the umbrella organisation.
Meanwhile Sarah Campion has joined as director of external affairs and communications having previously held marketing and communications roles within the NHS, Macmillan Cancer Support as well as director of engagement at Fight for Sight.
She will lead NHS Charities Together’s external communications, branding and engagement with charity members, supporters and other stakeholders.
She said: “I’m delighted to be joining the NHS Charities Together team at this extraordinary moment. I look forward to working with our incredible members and fundraisers as we join forces and harness the momentum of the nation’s heartfelt support of our vital health services."
They are set to join in January 2021.
Ellie Orton, NHS Charities Together chief executive added: “This year has been like no other and has been an extremely challenging time for the NHS and NHS charities. As a result, our member NHS charities and NHS Charities Together have had to step up to provide support beyond anything we have achieved before. I am delighted that we will be joined by Louise, Richard and Sarah, who will work with our members and dedicated team to develop our charity and its support of NHS staff, volunteers and patients into 2021 and beyond.”
